Happy Halloween!!

I have officially made it to 24 weeks! It seems like this pregnancy is going by so fast. Although, the bigger I get the harder it is for me to get around. I sometimes need help from Jeremy to tie my shoes and I still have 16 weeks more weeks to go.

Of course during my pregnancy there has to be a flu pandemic that is killing thousands of people in the US. This last week the hospital I work at finally got the H1N1 vaccine to give out to employees. This is great news considering how sick it is making so many people, especially pregnant moms. However, I was a little hesitant to get the vaccine, considering the vaccine they were giving out contains mercury. The hospital said they may get the mercury free vaccine, but were not sure. They already do not have enough vaccines to give to all employees. After much debate (and encouragement from my doctor, family, and friends), I decided it was safer to go ahead and get the vaccine than get sick from the swine flu and have serious consequences. I do feel I made the right decision.

This weekend, Jeremy and I headed to Portland to see my parents. We went to the Roloff Farm to get some pumpkins and saw Amy Roloff. We also saw Zack and Jeremy Roloff (But did not get a picture with them.) It was cool to see the farm in person since Jeremy and I love watching their tv show.

Here is a picture of Cooper with his Halloween costume.

Well, I had a doctors appointment earlier this week and everything looks good so far. My doctor said I am a boring patient which I guess is good. It doesn't help that I get a little paranoid about small things because of where I work and the things I see.

So far, I have gained 14 pounds which seems like quite a bit when I am not used to gaining so much weight so fast. Many people think I am going to have a boy based on the way I am carrying the baby. I think I have a greater chance at having a boy based on Jeremy's family, but I may be surprised by a girl. Either way we would be very happy.

It is surprising the many different wives tales to predict the gender of your baby. If I go with the Chinese Lunar Calendar then I am having a baby boy. Another test is using Drano and a sample of your urine and when you mix them together your urine will change a certain color depending on if it is a girl or a boy. Don't worry, I have not tried this yet. Another belief is if you crave sweets such as chocolate during your pregnancy then you are having a girl. Well, if this is true then I must be having a girl because I have a bad sweet tooth with this pregnancy.

Even with all these myths I guess I will have to wait until February to know what Jeremy and I are having. I can't wait!!
